Josephine Hanschke recently joined Juro as a Client Onboarding Manager. Previously with Freshfields, Josephine will be helping our customers reach a state of contract zen.

Hey Josephine, welcome to the team! Tell us a bit about your journey to Juro.

I learned about Juro by researching the current legal tech scene in London and reading about it on LegalGeek. My goal was to work on something that would increase efficiency for legal departments everywhere and would really add value to their daily life. Juro shares the same vision. The product is really exciting and the more I learned about it the more I knew that I wanted to be part of Juro’s development and the amazing team behind it instead of continuing down the traditional lawyer path.

What are you responsible for at Juro?

Juro puts a major focus on customer happiness and effortless onboarding and integration of contracts into the Juro platform. The team works hard on making contracts faster, smarter and more human. My part in making sure that happens will be to ensure that the onboarding process runs as smoothly as possible and that all processes get implemented quickly and effectively.

What got you interested in legal tech in the first place?

I believe that legal tech is the most exciting, innovative and important development in legal right now. Through working in big law firms I got to know the limitations of everyday tasks due to the high volume of documents and contracts. It is very difficult to keep track of everything that is going on without the tools necessary to do so. I was looking for ways to get involved in the development of platforms that might help and that is how I became interested in legal tech.

How do you think technology can help legal teams?

Technology will make it easier for legal teams to manage their data and legal documents, so that they can focus on the really important issues at hand. Data-driven legal teams will be able to get more value out of their work at a faster pace. Since technology has been introduced into every sector imaginable, legal teams should follow the trend and get onboard with the technology available to them.

How do you think your legal background will help you?

Having a good understanding of legal contracts will help me understand our customers’ needs better. I will be dealing with their contract workflows on a day to day basis and knowing what they need is key to creating an effortless and delightful onboarding process.

What is your top tip for contract success?

I would suggest that the key to contract success is to design documents in a smart, easy-to-understand and engaging way. After all, legal is a service that should be useful for the client or user. In this way, all parties can close agreements quickly in order to start their business relationship as smoothly as possible and they can manage the relationship that a contract codifies much better.

What has been the best thing about working at Juro so far?

At Juro the team focus is really on the end result. Everyone is free to discover their own way to getting there and I really appreciate that amount of trust and early responsibility. The welcoming and fun atmosphere is definitely a major plus. I can’t wait to see where Juro will be 6 months from now...

If you were trapped on a desert island, which 3 items would you bring?

I would definitely pack a surfboard, sunglasses and a puppy.
